Update on ICE pathology requests to UHS
News
We’ve had feedback from UHS’ radiology team about the use of the ICE (Integrated Clinical Environment) system that some practices are not aware of the ‘status update’ alerts or accessing them on the practice view.
The status update alert informs the practice when a request has been cancelled and why this has happened. Radiology must justify these requests and ensure that they are IRMER (Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations) compliant. However, a number of radiology requests have had to be cancelled due to:
- GP requests not meeting this criteria
- the patient not attending their appointment.
When this happens a status update message is sent to the surgery system and the message is flagged to the referrer (the GP). The status update message codes and what they mean are as in the table below.
Code | Type | Description |
ABB | CH | Abandoned exam. Not re-booked |
CPR | CP | Patient refused examination |
CPMP | CP | Patient may be pregnant |
CP | CP | Patient cancel |
CHUN | CH | Unjustified examination |
CHRAD | CH | Cancelled by radiologist |
CHPP | CH | Done at private/other hospital |
CHNR | CNR | No longer required |
CHLMP | CH | LMP outside dates |
CHIP | CH | Done as In Patient |
CHAE | CHA | Abandoned examination |
DNA | CP | Did not attend |
Please can you ensure that everyone making requests through ICE is aware of the updated system.
