Please note that benign soft tissue lumps not meeting referral criteria as set out in the link above are subject to a successful IFR (individual funding request) from primary care. More information can be found at:
Superficial Lumps and Bumps, or those related to the skin (including cysts) are likely to be seen by dermatology.
Thus if a minor local anaesthetic and/or skin procedure is likely required then consider referral to dermatology. Consider tier 2 service (community dermatology where appropriate)
Benign lesions are subject to an IFR
Acute abscesses are sene through the on-call general surgical services at local hospitals

Lumps and bumps to the head and neck may be seen by ENT or Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. These service are found under their speciality on eRS.
Neck Lumps- please consider if this needs to go to the ‘one stop head and neck clinic’ which is referred to through the fast track pathway for suspected cancer of the head and neck.
Lumps and bumps on limbs and digits are generally seen through the orthopaedic service via orthopaedic choice.

Primary care cannot dircetly refer into the PPG lumps and bumps eRS service. This service is only accessible by onward triage/referral from secondary care.
To refer to PPG patients must meet the following criteria and a BMI must be included with the referral.
ASA grade 1 or 2. Not ASA grade 3 patients unless pre-existing co-morbidities are stable and well controlled
The Patient has a BMI <40
The patient is >16yo
