University Hospital Dorset – referrals for lymphedema care

I am pleased to share with you an update regarding the Lymphedema pathway for patients under the care of University Hospital Dorset (RBCH).
With effect from December 2020 it has been agreed the Trust will establish a service level agreement with Lewis Manning Hospice to provide follow on lymphedema care for patients whilst they are under the care of an RBCH oncology consultant specialist.
Working in partnership with Dorset CCG we have knowledge that good working relationships are currently in place between the Trust and Lewis Manning Hospice to ensure a quality service that offers early intervention in the management of Lymphedema. The aim of this agreement is to ensure a seamless pathway for WHCCG cancer patients.
Referrals will be made from their RBCH specialist consultant and therefore it will not be locally available to refer directly via the ERS route. The onward referral will be managed by the Trust.
