Understanding, Identifying and Responding to Neglect course
Resource
Places are still available on the ‘Understanding, Identifying and Responding to Neglect’ virtual course which takes place on Wednesday, 21st February.
This multi-agency learning course brings together professionals to develop knowledge and skills and is designed to complement in-house training. This Neglect training is recommended for all new starters across all agencies as the majority of children on Child Protection Plans on the IOW are due to neglect.
This course is FREE to Isle of Wight professionals working with children and families. We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with your colleagues – the link to book your place is at the bottom of this email.
Understanding, Identifying and Responding to Neglect
Wednesday, 21st February 2024, 1.30pm-3pm
This webinar will guide IOW professionals through the HSCP and IOWSCP Neglect strategy and toolkit to enable them to transfer this knowledge into practice. This course contributes to meeting the learning outcomes at Level 2.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the concept of significant harm and neglect as identified in the IOWSCP and HSCP Neglect Strategy
- Identify indicators of neglect including the four types of neglect outlined by Howe (2005) and consider the significance of individual perspectives when identifying neglect and the implications for practice
- Explore the IOWSCP and HSCP practitioner tools available via the online Neglect Toolkit and consider how they can be used to support single and multi-agency working
Delegates may wish to familiarise themselves with the Neglect Toolkit ahead of the session: https://www.hampshirescp.org.uk/toolkits/neglect/
Via Microsoft Teams.
The IOWSCP provides fully-funded training to its partner and relevant agencies, but we do ask individuals to book a ticket so that we can manage numbers. Please be aware that if an individual fails to cancel their ticket or notify us they will be unable to attend, agencies will be charged a non-attendance fee of £120 (per whole training day).
