Paediatric urology service UHS
Condition
The paediatric urology service at UHS is receiving a large number of inappropriate referrals – up to 80% of all referrals received are not appropriate for the service and do not meet the criteria list on the DoS. While many of these referrals are appropriate for UHS to manage, this is creating an administrative burden on the paediatric urology team.
Please could you alert all practices to the following guidance:
• Patients with UDT, phimosis / foreskin issues should be referred to the General Paediatric Surgery service
• Patients with recurrent UTIs should be referred to the General Paediatrics service
• Urinary incontinence patients should be referred to your local community continence services
