Condition

Suspected GCA must be discussed with Rheumatology on-call before referral on eRS. The Rapid Access Clinic is restricted, so it needs to go to the Rheumatology General Clinic:
Rheumatology – General – Southampton – UHSFT – RHM
As long as the patient has been discussed with Rheumatology on-call, the referral can be sent to and they will redirect it to their Rapid Access Clinic.
Please see Salisbury’s Guide for more detail (requires an HSCN connection):

Patients with visual symptoms should be referred directly to Opthalmology by contacting the on call Opthalmologist on bleep 1625
Patients with no visual symptoms should be referred to Rheumatology – email sft.hotjoints-gcareferrals.rheumatology@nhs.net
A GCA referral form should be completed in all instances, which can be found on their GP Portal
