8.4.20 Health & Social Care Network Implementation
News
As previously stated Health & Social Care Network (HSCN) will be replacing N3 as the national network for secure connectivity. In light of the current climate GP practices have started to question the importance of HSCN and concerns have been raised about the safety of BT, BT Openreach and Healthcare Computing engineers carrying out implementations at GP Practice sites.
Both BT and BT Openreach have adopted a new working procedure in light of Covid-19 and are working to reduce risk at client sites as well as to themselves.
HIOW CCGs have issued guidance to Healthcare Computing and South, Central & West CSU for non-clinical staff visiting GP practices (see attached guide).
HSCN is deemed critical network infrastructure and the need to accelerate implementation is crucial in order to deliver improved resilient connections with enhanced service levels, additional download and upload speeds necessary for increased online demand, video consultations and exchange of information between sites. Therefore it would be greatly appreciated if you could accommodate site visits as and when required.
GP Practices will be contacted in advance of any visits and on occasion for information to help ensure the migration runs smoothly.
Attached is a guide of what to expect before and during the migration:
