29.4.20 HHFT – Radiology during COVID-19 for GP patients
News
Firstly I would like to thank you for your patience during these extraordinary times as we adjust our service to the challenges of the pandemic.
We would like to update you with the following information:
Routine imaging Routine imaging was suspended across all modalities from the middle of March. From this week we are cautiously resuming routine imaging, having put in place screening and social distancing measures. We have established a recovery plan to tackle the large number of patients waiting to be imaged. Please be patient as turnaround times may be longer than expected.
Walk in service & requesting imaging We have suspended the GP walk-in service for X-ray, in order to reduce the risk of inadvertent virus transmission. Please request imaging as normal on ICE, patients do not need to contact us directly. Patients will be contacted by Radiology and screened for symptoms of COVID-19, if that is clear they will be offered an appointment on a ‘cold’ site (e.g. Andover War Memorial Hospital or Candover).
The Hot Hub If a discussion with a Radiologist is required please contact the Hot Hub via the hotline number on 01256 313982. Hot Hub hours at 0900 – 1300 and 1300 – 1700. The call will be fielded by an administrator and diverted to a Radiologist on the correct site. When calling the hot hub, please be patient as the Radiologist may be dealing with more than one call at any time.
Please do get in touch if you have any queries, my email address is vincent.helyar@hhft.nhs.uk.
